My next door neighbor want to learn and I’m not sure how to teach them
if you don’t think you’ll be able to explain it well you could refer them to some crochet tutorials (on Youtube maybe) and lend them yarn/hooks/stitch markers for a bit
if they really want you to be their guide then make sure
- they have the same dominant hand as you (left-handed or right-handed), otherwise you might have to learn how to crochet with your other hand
- you’re able to be patient with them/encourage them along the way
I think it’d be good for them to just work on squares for now (like a 10x 10 sc square), then they can learn dc and hdc, and the magic circle and all that
lmk if this helps :)
I would show them a few You tube videos or have them watch a couple. Just basic stitches until they are confident enough to move on to more complex ones.
If you’d rather guide them then have them practice holding the hook and yarn. Then, show them slip knot and sc, hdc, dc. I’d also get the to practice chaining.
not everyone holds their hooks the same or yarns the yarn over the same. So with that i’d be patient with them until they find their groove.
wash cloths, or even a basic blanket would be a great starting project.
I think show them basic stuff like slipknot and sc first
Then once they are good move onto Mr and ami
I would advise them to watch yt videos.
Many of us here learnt to crochet watching you tube videos on the basics like how to sc, dc etc and then built on those skills.
highly recommend woobles or yt vids
