Ok no matter how many times I follow the pattern or video my edges on my blankets always look wonky! I know I am doing something wrong but I am not sure at this point.
I have accepted my fate and plan on going around the edges with a fresh border to hide all the mistakes and make it look clean.
Advice welcome anyway.

Hi so you can chain one at the end of each row as I makes it more even , hope this helps

can I see a picture? also, this used to be my problem- are you chaining 1 at the end of each row as a turning chain?

Yes I follow each pattern or video exactly but it always goes wrong.

Maybe it’s because of you changing your tension?

You can always add a border on later; that helps hide it and looks nice. you can look into stuff like scalloped edges or reverse single crochet looks nice too

lol I have accepted my fate to always needing to add a border. Which is fine just curious as to why every blanket I do ends up with edges that are never nice.

to get straight edges, I don’t chain one at the end, but instead pull the loop on the hook to the size of a sc and turn and continue

This is likely a tension issue which isn’t uncommon with blankets because they’re not crocheted all at once.
Honestly, there are so many beautiful border patterns I don’t consider them as cover ups, they really polish the project and help them stand out from others!
