Creature designing!! Yay! <3
You could use those flying foxes as messenger pigeons! OR falcons :] Like, they could be trained to do so. I think that would fit the story since there are like 12 secret groups that probably need to communicate somehow. You could use other creatures too for that!
Here’s two ideas :] you could go for a more simple, “normal” design or a more fantastic one! (I personally like the second one best heheh)
