Help me create creatures for my book(s)!!!

Hey everyone! As a lot of you know, I’m writing a Christian fiction fantasy book series! It is not only for Christians, as I want everyone to feel able to read it. It does have a lot of Biblical ties and allegories, but it will not be “preachy”. Think Narnia or LOTR.

Anyways, here’s a blurb to give you an idea of what my book will be like. I need some more ideas for creatures found in the world. Also plants and anything else! (Feedback and criticism is more than welcome!!!)

So this is book one of my main series, and it’s very Narnia-inspired —but more layered, with prophecy, photography, Hebrew, and a fallen music director instead of a White Witch.

It starts with Willa, my main character, at age 6. Her mom (Aravah—Ara for short) is reading her this old, ancient-looking book before bed. It tells the story of a Great King (Elor), His love for music, and how His Music Director (Lailatha) —a once-trusted friend—grew jealous, tried to steal His throne, and was cast out. The whole thing is an allegory of Lucifer’s fall, but Willa doesn’t realize that yet. It just seems like a bedtime story… until everything changes.

Thirteen years later, Willa is 19, working as a professional film photographer, and notices that some strange things have been showing up in her pictures— creatures she’s never seen before, people who look… off somehow. Then one day, after a long shoot, she falls asleep on a train home —and wakes up at the last stop, alone. The conductor forces her off, and she ends up walking what she thinks is her home street (Willowynn), but it turns into a stone path winding through a glowing forest of giant willow trees.

She stumbles into a marketplace village with shops scattered in and under the trees, where people are speaking Hebrew, and runs into a little girl who rushes her home. The family—mother, father, 2 sisters, and an older brother—are surprised Willa knows their language (her mom taught her growing up). As they piece things together, the mother starts muttering about a prophecy, and Willa’s connection to it.

Later that night, Willa can’t sleep and finds a book on their shelf—the exact same book her mother used to read her as a child. Which is impossible. The older brother freaks out, tells her it’s one of the last remaining ancient chronicles from the days when the True King ruled, and that most copies were destroyed. The idea that her mom somehow had one back on Earth starts to rattle her.

Over the next few days, Willa starts exploring with one of the sisters (in disguise, since humans are basically fairytale creatures here), and she sees some of the beings she once saw in her photos:
– Sea bunnies that live in little puddles and lakes and glow
– Glowing deer with antlers that look like branches made out of light
– Mischievous flying foxes that vanish in and out of sight
– And giant manta-ray-like sky creatures that glide silently overhead, like guardians

  • Also, dragons. But those are for later!

When Willa checks the photos she’s been taking here, she notices something new: some of the people in her photos have glowing orbs of light inside their chests. But she never saw them in person. She shows the picture to the family’s mother, who recognizes the glowing people as those who still believe in the True King. Willa starts calling them the Lightkeepers.

There’s also this bigger element starting to unfold—Twelve ancient tribes, each with a sacred relic, a forgotten calling, and one person chosen from each to help fulfill a prophecy. Some of them are warriors. Some are seers, spies, scribes, pirates. Together, they’re meant to help restore the broken harmony of the world and prepare the way for the True King’s return.

But one of them is going to betray the others.

That’s where Willa comes in—not as the hero, but as the spark who draws them together. She’s part of something ancient, tied to both the Lightkeepers and the old music the world once sang. And her camera, strangely enough, might be the key to seeing the truth no one else can.

Please tell me what you think of it so far! If you have any ideas or suggestions, please let me know!!!
