Hi guys, i think from my topic you know that i need help! I am crocheting a freehand sweater and it’s my first time! Advice please? Anything will be helpful at this rate!

I’m definitely not the best person to ask for advice as I’ve only made 1 crochet sweater before and it was by following a pattern, but good luck! (also even if I had any advice you could just come up to me and ask because we’re siblings). ![]()
Girl- i love that sweater! A pity you never let me wear it, big sis. I would literally parade around the city with it if you did!
My advice is to double check the measurements (so it can fit you) and to use big stitches so it’ll be finished faster. ![]()
Thanks! Will do- i am using pretty thick yarn so the finished quick bit will be easy! Thank you so much!
Do’nt make your sts too tight!
Maintain your gauge/tension!
Keep putting it on so you make sure it fits! My friend made a sweater that was way too small and that didn’t end well ![]()
Always check the measurements as you go, Trust the process and don’t rush it
(You will make mistakes, trust) ![]()
Don’t make your stitches to tight also you have probably already started but most acrylic yarn is itchy so I always recommend wool, cotton, and Caron simply soft is the softest acrylic yarn I have EVER used, Have fun making it and can’t wait to see how it turns out! ![]()

I’ve honestly never made a sweater but I’m sure you’ll do great! I just made a shrug though! They are really fun to make and it only took me two weeks! I’ll put a picture of it ![]()
keep count of your stitches EVERY. ROW. EVEN IF ITS IN THE HUNDREDS. DO IT.
i would reccomend this star sweater it’s really easy and rlly cute i love it i made one for me and my friend it works up pretty fast too if you can make a star bag you can definatly think you can make this!
Aww thanks everyone!!! I will use your advice! ![]()

Basically with this method you’re only making 4 rectangles and sewing them up. I personally use this method while making freehand sweaters.
Also try to make sure you have the same amount of stitches on both the sleeves + front and back panels if your going for a symmetrical look

Good luck ![]()
Thanks! I am already done the body tho, I was using chunky yarn so it only took me one and a half days but I need more yarn For the arms, any advice for that? Thx!
If it looks uneven, don’t be chicken to scrap the sleeve and redo it. I can’t count how many times I have had to do that
If you already made the body there might be a different way to add the sleeves. Would you happen to have a picture of the body? I could probably help you figure it out! ![]()
