Hi!
I’m currently looking at making a skirt for a dress that I’m making. I’ve top the top part and the straps already made, just looking at ways to make a skirt….. I’ve seen a few different patterns available but just wanted some advice as to wether making it through a magic ring or in parts would be best?
I’ve attached an image of what type of skirt I’m hoping to make though it’s all in one colour.
Any advice or help is amazing thank you

Unfortunately that image appears to be AI generated so it would be very difficult to make a skirt exactly like the one pictured. To create the same look, using the granny stitch you would have to crochet the centre circle first and then add turning rows to each side to create this shape:
This would be an unusual construction for crocheting a skirt, as generally crocheted skirts tend to be worked from the waistband down and the flounce is normally created by 1 - 3 rounds of increases. This video shows an example of this type of construction:
Here is another example which shows an alternative sideways construction method:
To recreate the skirt in the image using more conventional techniques, you’d need to utilise mid row colour changes to achieve the centre circle which will most likely result in a LOT of cut yarn ends to weave in since the granny stitch would be used (it’d also require creating a graph once you know how many stitches you’d have after the increase round/s, or for the sideways version it would be a matter of figuring out how many rows there would be in total).

I just saw this tutorial the other day and I think I will make it soon, it’s a little different but it’s kinda the same length.
hope this helps! :))

Thank you! I’ll have to have a look! x
Oh no okay, I didn’t realise that it was a AI generated image
. That’s kind a bummer, thank you for the advice and the videos though! I will have a look through them and see which one I want to make with the wool I have. I didn’t realise that when making a skirt it’s made from the waistband down as it’s the first time I’ve attempted to make something like this
. Thank you again though for the advice it’s massively appreciated x
