I was using plush yarn for the first time and noticed this morning that my hands are all red and puffy. Is this an allergic reaction? What do I do?

Apply something cold to the puffy areas. You can also try an Epsom salt soak with warm water. You can also get OTC hydrocortisone cream to reduce further irritation. hope they get better

I’d say that’s most likely an allergic reaction since it your first time using it!!
You can do what @Mermaid2 said, and if you think it is the yarn, I would recommend throwing it away!

or just see a professional? they can tell you what you need because I bet they went to more doctor school than us crosheters!

UPDATE: it sort of went away, so it’s definitely the yarn. I will still be using this yarn because I am extremely broke and it cost me $10…

Just please be careful of contact dermatitis. It can get much worse very quickly if you’re allergic to something and continually expose yourself to it, which can lead to the need for steroid treatment. Ask me how I know (it wasn’t yarn, but still).
If you’re bent on continuing to use it, I’d suggest maybe trying to see if you can handle wearing a latex glove or something while you do.

I’ll definitely be using a glove from now on! I don’t intend on using this yarn forever as I’ll probably sell the product. Thanks for the info!
