Help with hearts!

Hello everyone!

I started crocheting about 2 weeks ago needing a distraction from a particularly rough patch in life. I am fairly proud of how far I have come, and needless to sayI am in love with this hobby now.

I have been really struggling with joining two heart pieces. I have attempted probably 10-15 hearts, with this being my most successful attempt. I really feel like I lucked into this one more than knew what I was doing, and if anyone is able to shed some light on this technique, I would greatly appreciate it!

So cute!
If you are using the method of creating one cup for one of the humps, the making the identical, here is what I do.

If you have an extra stitch marker, leave it in the first cup while working on the second one.
Leave a good tail on the first cup after casting off.
When you are ready to join, do half of a row of the second cup. (I.e. if the cup has 24 stitchs, make 12 stitches.

This is where the other stitch marker comes in

Grab the first cup.
The connect, go into the first stitch of the last round.
COUNT the stitches to make sure you have the number you need
Before connecting back to the second cup after going around on the first, I can those stitches.
I will start from the stitch before my stitch marker, and count back until I can verify which stitich I go in next, then I will finish that round.

THERE WILL BE A HOLE
Totally normal. Thats why we leave a decent length of tail from the first cup, and join there. Use the tail to sew the gaps.

Those are just some things that I do when making hearts. Let me know if that helps!
I hope your rough patch clears up.
