Help with modifying shirt length??

I recently got a company hoodie (logo blurred) and they decided one size fits all would be a great idea. Unfortunately that one size is too big for me to the point it’s a dress. Every tailor in my area has absolutely horrible reviews, so I figured I’d (with my mediocre seeing knowledge and decades old machine/hand sewing needles) try to do it myself.

I need to take in the bottom by about 6-8 inches. I don’t care if I lose the pocket, but it’d be nice to preserve it. I’d also like to preserve the elastic band to reattach (I don’t know how )

Any help GREATLY GREATLY GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

I would perhaps start with pulling out the seams for the band and pocket and removing them entirely. Then cutting out however much length you want gone, then re-attatching the band at the bottom by putting the two sides together on the inside and stitching them, then for the pocket, folding the edges under and sewing over the tuck when you put it on to make it look nicer on the hoodie

I’m trying to think of a way that preserves the pocket… Prob exactly what citraanddizzy said. Butt I’d recommend getting the sleeves out and taking a bit off the sides too to make it more proportional after taking some out of the bottom. I’m pretty sure you could find a tutorial online for resizing shirts, and that would work for the hoodie as well, if there isn’t a hoodie specific one. Whatever be the case, good luck!! :]

The hoodie actually fits nicely as an oversized fit lol. It’s just strangely long (probably cuz it had to fit my guy coworkers too). I’ll go look for tutorials, thanks for your advice!!

While I have no valuable advice, I would like to say that I read the text without quite reading it and got jumpscared by what I thought was this:
