I’m writing a pattern (that will be free)… but for part of the thing I’m making I used someone else’s pattern (which was also free). For context, I’m making a bear but wanted to make the ears unique so I used another pattern for the ears. I was just wondering whether it would be okay to post the pattern (i would credit the original pattern creator and link their site in the pattern). ty!

No. That is not OK. For your own use is one thing but copyright applies, even if it’s free.

Every part of it should be your own unique idea
Don’t use Sanrio, Nintendo, Disney, Hello Kitty or any other companies, work in your own pattern. That’s illegal and they can sue you. You need to officially get their permission before you can use their images
