Help with the length

Hi everyone!

I decided lately that I want to try making something with ā€œAlize Puffyā€ yarn and I thought about making a scarf

Here’s the inspo

The dimensions on this scarf are 30cm width and 2m length, at first I thought 170cm length would be good but some people told me it’s gonna be pretty short.

Rn I’m so confused and idk what’s the average length for a scarf :sob: I want to make it 30cm wide and to make it look cozy and warm like the inspo but I’m afraid I might not like 2m length, I never had a scarf before so I really don’t know :face_holding_back_tears: I really need help with that.

How long should I make the scarf??

Well, that sounds like a pretty good size for a scarf
If you would like a longer scarf you could always measure your wingspan, aka the length of both of your arms spread out (including your torso)

Do you need help on using Alize puffy? I have made a couple scarfs before and could help if you need!

I thought about making it 2m in total, 180cm for the scarf with 30cm width and 20cm for the rest yarn at the end, idk if these are good dimensions tbh :sob::sob: but I want it to be a little big and cozy but I’m afraid this might be so big. Also yes I absolutely need help since it’s my first time getting Aliza puffy :face_holding_back_tears: I would appreciate this help so muchhh!!!

You could try it on as you go and keep going until you like the length!

The problem is, I have to divide the rows on yarn skeins I’m going to get. for example, I want to make 180cm so it needs around 78-79 rows which is gonna need a specific amount of yarn, I got only 4 skeins so I need to do some maths to know the max length I can get :sob: and the budget I have can barely get me 4 skeins. I want to know the length that could make the scarf look just like how I want :face_holding_back_tears:. Idk if I should do the max length I can do with the number of skeins or shorter could be better

I made a 5 foot long scarf with 1 ball of Alize Puffy so I think 4 should be fine
How puffy works is the exact same as hand-knitting, so you pull the loops through each other.
How you start is by ā€œchainingā€ the width of the scarf, then pulling up loops into the chains
I’ll link a video!

What was the length of your scarf? That would be soo helpful for my calculations :face_holding_back_tears:

I never tried hand knitting before in fact it’s going to be my first wearable :face_with_peeking_eye:

Also Ty so much if u have a video for it I’ve been looking everywhere but all I see is people doing large blankets with different yarn :sob:

Ok I found a good clear video!
idk if there is any sound, but this pretty much explains it

My scarf was also 5 ftt long, or abt 152 cm, and I gave it to someone who was 5"9, or abt 1.7 meters, and she loves it

The reality is scarves don’t have a length they’re ā€œsupposedā€ to be other than what makes you comfortable and feel cozy and make you wanna wear it that’s the length it should be, I mean, my mum one not almost to the floor after being wrapped around her neck once and she’s 5’ 11ā€, it is her favorite scarf to this day because for once a scarf was made to fit her the way she wanted.
