Herrschners Yarn Haul + Review!

Hi everyone! As some of you know, I’m doing a crochet market in June at a Pride event, and needed some pride yarn. (I also needed to restock some basic colors of blanket yarn.) Of course, my mind went to Big Twist Living, which had variegated colorways in the colors of many common Pride flags. Herrschners is the only company that sells it anymore, and had never ordered from there before, so I saw this as the perfect opportunity! Here are my thoughts on the whole experience:

 The shipping cost is expensive, and the coast depends on how much yen you order, so I wouldn’t say ordering more yarn offers the cost in this case.

:orange_heart: I ordered the yarn either Saturday or Sunday night, and it shipped on Tuesday morning, and arrived on Wednesday during the day!

:yellow_heart: This led to me discovering that I live relatively close Herrschners one physical location (idk if it’s a warehouse or if there is a store) so that’s probably why it came so fast

What I got:

:green_heart: I got (top to bottom): Left Row- Big Twist Posh in Whipped Cream, Croissant, Strawberry Shortcake, and Black Sesame Ice Cream. Right Row- Big Twist Living in Twilight Blue, Confidence, Community, and Authentic.

:blue_heart: The yarn arrived in pretty good shape for being shipped, with one label broken and one a little torn (the black Big Twist Posh). The ball with the broken label was also unraveled just a little. (I wound it up in the photo, it’s the cream top ball of Big Twist Posh.) The rest were fine.

:purple_heart: It also came with a return/exchange form, a Herrschners catalog, and a few random coupons :woman_shrugging: (below the catalog).

:brown_heart: I am making a bandana with each pride flag yarn, but I don’t know what else to make with the leftover yarn. Let me know if you have a suggestion!

:black_heart: Overall impression of Herrschners: The shipping was super fast and the yarn came in great condition. While the shipping was a bit pricy, the overall experience was great! Highly recommend!

Have a great day!

Idk because I don’t celebrate pride month (don’t hate me because people be what they want to be and I’m cool with that) but I think if you could get rainbow colored yarn from hobby lobby or you know, the nearest yarn/craft store you could make animals or make clothes. Just some suggestions:)

Herrschners often has discounted shipping and if you leave items in your cart for a while then they’ll send you a coupon to get discounted shipping. I usually buy when they have .99 shipping or free shipping. Great to see they’re selling the living line!

I have the nonbinary and ace yarns that you bought, and I have made fingerless gloves with them, and they turned out great!

I like their worsted weight yarn, it holds up well, not splitty, does not break easily, and has a wide range of colors. But the yarn is fuzzy. Great cost per yard, I try to buy when there is a shipping coupon etc.

My acrylic staple that I like best is Premier Basix which is a little thicker than Herrscheners , less fuzzy, not splitting, doesn’t break easy and has a huge range of colors ( almost 100). Great cost per yard especially when on sale. Plus! premier shipping is free > $75 in USA, and >$100 in Canada.
