WARNING - long post incoming, scroll down to the two paragraphs the important info about patterns!!
Hi there beautiful people of ribblr!!
I don’t believe anyone has particular noticed my absence however I’ll explain it anyways! I experienced the big bad “burn out” for the past 3ish months! Around the time of my arctic charity bundle, which I am still yet to complete ( my pattern is done and so are all the others I just haven’t put them all together, bit off far more than I could chew clearly!)
Anyways, point is I stopped posting and making patterns, however sometime around then something possessed me to open an Etsy shop! Since then I’ve been selling plushies and trying to build up my store. I’m stumbling through it like a baby learning to walk, even better I’ve got 0 social media to advertise it now (new laws in my country).
But what’s the good news in all this? I’ve been reviewing my previous patterns and to put it quite simply… i can’t believe I ever charged anyone for that! I feel like such a scammer! I am honestly so sorry, that was never my intention. So I’ve made the easy decision to make all of my patterns excluding the seal ( a part of the arctic charity bundle ) free! ( they will be deleted soon so if you really want them get them ASAP) If anyone has purchased my patterns, if I can find a way to refund you I will!!
some more good news! My pattern writing skills and dedication have greatly improved in my hiatus! I have learnt so so much and am so excited to be pattern designing again, this time with the confidence they’ll be worth your while! I have a super cute pattern I expect to release for testing in January, if you love bats keep a look out for that!!
I have missed you all so much and I hope you are all keeping well!
I think your patterns are great! They have so much info and I love testing for you because they are so well written, I’m sure your doing great on etsy, (you always are) and it’s great to have you back.
Aw sweetie, it is all part of the learning process. There is only one shortcut that I know of in my 20 years of experience, the last 5 full time.
Thought I’d share the only shortcut that I know of with everyone.
Be teachable! Defined as : you understand that no matter where you are in your crochet journey there is always something new to learn
Make it fun for whomever is teaching you! Don’t be a know it all. Be humble ( no, not a doormat but someone who recognizes their limitations) Honor the person who taught you ( actually treat everyone with respect not just the ones that are useful to you) Express gratitude. Look up stuff you don’t know on the Internet/ Book before asking the “ teacher”. it will help you ask not only the right question and avoid what are called lazy questions. Example: What is the weight of this yarn? Solution: look on yarn website, find out the WPI ( wraps per inch), look at another color of the same yarn/ line.
It’s great to be back! You’re genuienly the sweetest wobble! You’re always so kind to everyone, I’m so glad you enjoy my patterns and I hope you’ll love the future ones just as much!
I so agree with this! I think with any skill there is always something new to learn and ways to improve, that’s they joy of it all and why I love to make art so much. Life would be so boring if I knew everything.
I haven’t met you since I joined in your hiatus. I have been crocheting for a kut a decade but never designed anything except a single blanket so I look forward to learning from you.
You have always been so sweet. Burn outs are hard, but your stronger you are always there for people and are a hard worker. I know you’re doing well on Etsy. You are persistent and talented. I’m glad you’re back!
