Hooks- are you team inline or team tapered?

I like tapered for me I find it goes off the hook more smooth!

Inadvertently, I rediscovered the type of yarn that I needed an inline hook for. Fuzzy, finely structured yarn like Lion Brand’s Ferris Wheel. I think it was something-or-other-homespun that I was using last time that needed an inline hook.

With my tapered hook, I was splitting every other stitch. On a whim, I switched to an inline hook and have only split once! Sadly my inline hooks aren’t ergonomic. Just plain old Susan Bates. And the pattern is a scarf! I’ll have to go slow.

I learned on tapered hooks, but once I tried a Susan Bates, my hook was flying.
I’ve returned to them even after trying Furls Odyssey, Furls Streamline-the wooden ones(broke at the shaft), bamboo hooks that were inline( talk about a drag), Boye, Ophire ( out of AZ), Tulip Etimo, Prym, Clover ( too short), Omni and finally Addi Swing.

I just cover my Susan Bates with that polymer stuff that you bake. Works fine.

I use a beauty blender from the dollar tree to make my small hooks ergonomic. All you have to do is cut a small hole and push your hook through. Saw it on a tiktok and it saved my hands.
