Hi!! I recently-ish joined Ribblr and I absolutely love the platform, I’ve been thinking of a lot of amigurumi designs that I think would be so fun to make but the problem is, I don’t know how to start making a pattern! Do you just write it down and tweak it over and over till it looks good or what’s your guy’s process? Thank you so much for helping me!!
i think abt how i could get to the shape i want and what sts i could use. then i start! some ppl sketch it out, which i do occasionally.
ALSO
if u randomly come up with a techinique to do something in the pattern, quickly write it down!! if ur like me, u might forget it in 5min!!
I love drawing so sketching it sounds like a great idea!! :D also I constantly forget cool things that I see in tutorials lol Great tip! TYSM! ![]()
I honestly just see it in my head, and making it
I don’t really have a detailed process
I would highly recommend anyone who starts out really research into the yarn council’s wording and writing. Just because wording really helps cut out confusion.
I can’t stress enough take photos of each part and or section (ears, mouth, arms, legs ect). Take photos in well lit areas. Punctuation, spelling, and consistency are also good points to just make sure is correct before posting a tester call. Human error is a thing so it’s ok if you miss things.
My process is this
I start with an idea in my mind (some draw photos which I admirer).
Next I begin with my first protype draft of the pattern. I don’t pre write it I actually design as I go. If I don’t like the shape I frog but if it’s chenille yarn I can only frog so many times so keep that in mind. If I’m happy with the first piece I move to the next part of the design. I always take photos of each piece once finished. I use lined paper or a notebook to write the pattern.
Once I’m satisfied with the results I clean up the finished Amigurumi and take a final picture. Type up and post a test call.
When I test I do my best to help each designer out because my first experience was horrible and no one should have to go through that. I tend to make sure when I’m writing patterns to use visuals, detailed explanations and diagrams.
Welcome to Ribblr !
Ahh thank you so much for all of those tips!! I appreciate it!
