How does "moving 1sc to the right for the color blocking" work? Free amigurumi Stitch plushy pattern

Hello! I’m in need of some help with amigurumi color switching! My cousin sent me a free Stitch pattern as a gift request since I told him I had started learning. I was finally able to find the perfect colors and I have finished every body piece with ease, except for the main body.

In the pattern there is a note that says “Second bunch = moving 1sc to the right for the color blocking.” I have tried every which way I could think of to get this to work. I have asked a few different online groups for crocheting and only a few people offered suggestions but no one has a clue on what it means. Everything I’ve tried has always ended up with the left side of the Powder Blue curving into the middle instead of mirroring the right side and ending up a nice round Powder Blue belly.

One suggestion: “I believe it means to start the color work one stitch earlier”

Another: “Search on google to learn how to ‘color block’”

I’ve tried removing one Blue stitch and replacing it with a stitch of the Powder Blue before switching, I’ve tried adding only part of the Powder Blue to the joining stitch, etc..

Is there any idea of what I could be doing wrong?

This just means to shift the color changes as different tension and techniques changes the placement of these color changes (like some leaning to one side instead of being straight)

but nothing i have tried has made it look presentable in any way :frowning:

Unfortunately, with crocheting, color changes naturally slant to one side and there isn’t really anything you can do about it.

Hi! Assuming you are right handed, the natural slant of the stitches should be leaning towards the right which means to compensate you would need to shift your stitches left (not right like the note says).

Have you tried crocheting the body without adjusting the colours? It may not even be needed if your stitches aren’t drifting that much, the designer has mentioned the note as an option just in case they are.

If the colour changes are still being problematic, you could ignore the note and try some of the techniques mentioned in this video:

Another option is to crochet in the front loops only as demonstrated here:

Hopefully this helps! :slightly_smiling_face:
