How long should my turning chain be?

When I use double crochet in for example a blancket at the end of the row how many chains do i do

Usually it’s advised to chain3, but a lot of people prefer to ch2 to make it look neater! It depends how tight your tension is.

I was taught to use the same as the level you are on,so single gets one, double gets two, but the half get one less, so hdc gets one.
Of course, I’m talking US terms because the UK terms are not the same.

I found this chart on the internet. Some people use one less when starting with the hdc, makes it a bit neater for me. I also learned how to stack my turning stitches and I love it!

its kinda up to you on how you want it to look on the sides also, I use 2 for a turning chain on my double crochets and 2 as well for half double crochets, 1 turning chain for single crochets. I find the sides look wavy with 3 turning chains on the DC but that’s my preference

I don’t chain at all, I do an alternative turning chain.

I hate the gap and fighting the Chain 2/3 ad to where to put my stitch ,
