how much yarn for granny square pants

HELLOOO
so i realllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyy want to make these adorable crochet granny square pants:

i think they are SOOOO CUTEEEE
so i was wondering if any one here has made them before
if you have, i would like to know a few things lol

  1. how much yardage of yarn was used?
  2. how did you motivate yourself to continue making squares?
  3. (most important) are they worth the time and effort?

i will probably start some granny squares (bc WHY NOT ) but b4 i buy a TON of yarn i was curious how many i should buy bc i dont want to buy too less, and i dont want to buy too many lol

Sorry i cant help; granny squares are my WORST NIGHTMARE!!!
Like how with all the weaving in of ends?!
This is why i usually just stick to amigurumi hehe.

I haven’t made pants like these but with big projects they can be quite time consuming so make sure you have something to do in the background while working on it, like a favorite show or podcast to listen to.
Also, think about when you would wear these like what kind of occasion, and if you can think of at least 2 times when you would wear these then go for it. But if it would be something you wear once then never again I wouldn’t recommend spending that much time/energy/yarn just for it to sit in the back of a drawer for years after.
With granny square wearables like this, make sure you have some sort of tight-fitting shorts or leggings you could wear underneath so ppl can’t see through the little holes in them haha hope that all makes sense!

Granny squares are sort of a stash buster project, i would start out with 1 skien of each color and get more if needed. How much you need really depends on the size you will make
