how to get rid of stitch gaps in your plush?

So I’ve made 2 plushes before and I always have the same problem. The yarn always gets these big holes in them that you can see the stuffing inside. How do I fix it, and what’s causing the problem? Here’s a picture of my current project that I’ve been commissioned for by someone at my work.

Maybe try a smaller hook?

How much smaller? Because I only have a few hooks and I bought this 9mm to use with this 9 mm yarn.

I usually use one hook size down from what it says on label. So if the label says to use an 8mm hook, I’d use a 7mm

Thank you! I’ll have to go out and buy a new one, RIP my progress lol!

I tend to use an G (4.5mm) or H (5mm) hook when making plushies with bulky/#5 yarn.
Also, another thing to try is to yarn under instead of over.
