Hello! I can’t make my locks curly. I followed the pattern ( (inc-hdc, 2 hdc) x6, 10 hdc) but my locks are not the same as the model. Any suggestions? I’ve tried left loop and back loop of the chain.
Try using a smaller hook!
Just make more increases Are they supposed to curl only on the ends? If so just increase in all of the first stitches. If they are supposed to curl all the way up increase in them all. If they dont curl enough still you can make three hdc in each chain.
I’ll try.
The designer makes them curl with this pattern, I wonder how…
Id definitely say ( inc hdc , hdc ,hdc ) all the way down and skip the 10hdc at end
Do you have a picture of the designers? If so that could help me figure out what you need to do
i dont know what pattern ur using, but im pretty sure to do this, you alternate btwn an inc and a sc/dc. so you can do: inc, 3sc in the next st, or sc, inc in the next st, just always add 1 more sc/dc in every other st. Sorry if its confusing
How curly are you supposed to make it? Beach curls, or spiral ?
Spiral is usually two to three stitches per chain. Loose curl or beach curl is mor of a one stitch per chain.
Is this for a test?
You could also go down a hook size and make your tension tighter as well.
Here’s a good guide write up too.
I put a picture of the desired curls below. It is for a test. I’ll try with a smaller hook. Thanks for the link!
I tried different hook sizes (in mm). I think that was the thing. I “helped” the locks to curl in the 2nd
picture. I don’t know if it’ll last.
Your welcome.
I suspect tension could be why it’s not curling with the hook size mentioned in the pattern. the tighter the tension the curlier the yarn kinks. So that’s why the smaller hook is giving a better result. I’m glad you figured it out looks awesome.
My tension leans to the tighter side and when I loosen my yarn it does the same the drape is not as curly.
