Hi so in order for me to help you, i need some info.
Do you have a online store? (Insta/facebook/tiktok etc.)
If so, really push posts saying that you take customs now. Just plz be forewarned, ppl are going to want extravagant stuff and you might be overwhelmed with all the stuff. Manage how many orders you are getting at a tome. For me, i usually get them in waves of 6. I finish them, then i get some more. I started my shop as a custom order shop so ppl know me as a custom order shop.
Also, word of mouth is great. Just communicating and pushing it out that you have a custom order shop will help with sales. Just dont underprice yourself or overprice bc ppl get around to talking. And try to give deadlines. Like “oh, you want xyz? It might take me about four weeks, and shipping.”
Another one is "you want xyz? Perfect! I have alot of orders to fullfill right now, so i will let you know when i get started, but once i do, it will be ready in x amount of weeks.

I don’t yet, I’m working on getting an Etsy shop set up. I don’t have any socials.

With an etsy, its alot harder to get your stuff seen because of all the different sellers on there in the same field. Try a web store on shopify, or something like that. Plus on etsy, the fees are alot to keep up with, and if you want ads on etsy, thats additional fees. But definetly try a independent storefront. Also, ask your parents if you can use their socials and create a different acct. Thats what im doing.

In the shop appearance section ont the Etsy website there should be an option to enable custom orders button. Hope this helps!

I’ve only done a couple, all but one have been local so i just met up with the person. I use paypal or venmo or plain old cash when i swap with the person.
I usually tell people at markets that i do custom orders and to hit me up on my social media or email if they would like to place a order. Along with giving them a business card.

If I have someone that wants a custom order from me normally I will go on Etsy and try to find a pattern that is cute and simple but also what they’re looking for. It is super fun to do custom orders because you get to see what a whole lot of people like and actually what’s trending.

I just advertise my biz to friends, at garage sales/hopefully markets, and the people I give crochet things to also work as advertisements cuz if they like it, they’ll share it. If someone wants a custom, then I’ll give them my Gmail and they can message me what they want. That’s pretty much what I do without an online biz!

I tell friends and family, ask them to tell and advertise! I also give out emails at garage sales or to interested people. I have a designated email for my biz, and one conjoint
