I can’t choose!!!

Hello!! :waving_hand:

I am having trouble choosing if I should switch back to yarn over. I started crocheting with YO but changed to YU because I heard it doesn’t use as much yarn, I also don’t think this is true.

Some reasons:

Pros:
I think it looks better with chenille which is what I mostly use

Looks kinda ugly with acrylic

Nostalgia lol :joy:

Cons:

YU looks better with acrylic

Would have to retrain myself (not a big deal)

So for the final decision, I’m leaving it up to you guys….

Should I change back to YO

(I would leave a poll but it’s not letting me

Edit: it’s in the comments)

Use yarn over for Chanel and yarn under for acrylic!

I know that’s what I’m thinking but I would have to be bilingual for yarn

What’s yu or yo

yu is yarn under

yo is yarn over

Just use yarn over that’s why I use the whole entire time I’ve been crocheting and I think it looks perfectly fine with acrylic yarn

But what does that mean?

I mean, just use whatever you think looks better for each yarn/thing you’re making. It comes natural to change between both after you get some practice!

Or just use whichever comes easier to you, they both look good anyway. And if it doesn’t, it’s probably a tension issue, not YO or YU issue

No my tensions fine they just both have different textures and the stiches are different

YO is a V shape

YU is a cross stitch shape

Oh yeh I meant like, does it really make a visual difference to you in the end? XD i don’t even notice when it’s one or the other

Yeah the have different looks

Oh, I don’t notice it at all lol. Plushies look the same in the end, using one or the other. But if you prefer one, go for that one!

If you mainly make amigurami i would stitck with yu just because the stitches tend to be tighter so there’s less chance of the fluff sticking out

I’ve just been using yu lately because I’ve been doing more amigurumi with acrylic yarn and it makes the stitches tighter (I could probably have a smaller hook and do yo and it would look ok though). And because I’m doing that I’ve been using yu for chenille yarn as well, and I think it looks pretty good. I guess you could try to switch, but if it doesn’t work, sticking to your “default” works too.
