Why did this have to happen?
I’m crocheting an alien right now, but after posting the WIP image of it, someone accused me of copying their ideas. I tried to explain that this was made by freehand, but this is what I got in my DMs. They just wouldn’t believe me. Also, they were one of my testers in the past, and accused me of mistreating them, which I’d never do…right? Other testers of mine had said otherwise. In the end, I had no choice, but to block the accuser.
But after showing this, everyone, including my family got my back and supported me. They even pointed out that my alien has a completely different shape to theirs, which is the thing! I couldn’t be more grateful.
You have been a very nice person when I have tested for you! I have heard it said that when you start getting “hate mail” that you made it to a good level of success. Congratulations on all your achievements!

Aliens aren’t a new idea so that person acting like you stole their design is crazy. Don’t let them get you down. I think your design is very cute. Love the color combos and would love to test if you do one here in the future.
There will be people who are really proud of their patterns and become defensive and territorial over the likeness of their work compared to others. There can only be soooo many kinds of patterns of the same thing so some are bound to be similar. You create amazing things and you have great knowledge on how to crochet :) dont let them getcha down
After a bit more research, according to the supporters on Threads, they’re apparently struggling. For example, they have around 300 followers on Instagram, and their other social media sites have around 5 to 35. So maybe they are jealous of me.
This is just awful! They were so rude to you from the very start which leads me to believe this person your talking too must be pretty young. I myself was recently accused of copying a pattern in my shop, but we worked out the differences and the person was very reasonable once we put them side by side. A lot of people had agreed upon first sight and it almost led to my pattern being deleted. We worked it out though and I was able to re-post the pattern. This person/or child dare I say, seems incredibly unreasonable at all. And the fact that your inspiration picture is right behind your alien and they still accused you is just awful! And then they start acting like you mistreated them in some way… ugh. This reminds me of when we have children here on ribblr trying to post patterns and making wild accusations. They’ve been causing problems lately, which is why ribblr only allows people over 13. Anyway, sorry for the rant. I hate when people act like this toward someone they’ve never met. Good luck with the situation, and I do love your alien.
