Remember my last post where I said I have a problem with buying yarn?
Yeah… I think I just proved my point. ![]()
I went to Hobby Lobby today to stock up for my next market in October, and apparently “stocking up” means getting so much yarn that the employee has to pull out the XL bag. ![]()
And this isn’t even my first time getting a big Hobby Lobby bag! Usually, I get what I consider the “large” bag for my yarn… but today they brought out one that was EVEN BIGGER.
[XL bag on top, usual large bag underneath, regular Hobby Lobby bag to the right]
Like… REALLY?!?! ![]()
At this point, I’m not sure if I’m buying yarn or preparing to open a yarn store.
And somehow, I always convince myself, “I’ll buy a bunch now so I don’t have to keep coming back.”
And then a few weeks later I’m working on something and realize…
“Oh. I forgot that color.” ![]()
So I go back for ONE skein.
And then I see another color.
And another.
And suddenly I’m leaving with another giant bag. ![]()

Since school has started, I’m going to have way less time to crochet, so I’m trying to get my supplies ready ahead of time for October instead of realizing I need something when I’m already running out of time.
And somehow… 18 skeins later, I think I’m prepared. ![]()
The best part? Everything was 30% off, and the yarn still came to around $80 before tax.
I also got safety eyes, which added about another $5.

Reviews
Yarn Bee Cozy Occasion:
I’ve used this yarn before and grabbed several colors because they feel like some of the most useful everyday shades for my market prep (especially Hummus, which I somehow use constantly
). All the colors in this line are super soft and really nice to work with for the most part. They have a great texture while still staying somewhat firm while crocheting. Depending on what project I’m making, I tend to use a 5 mm hook with these—just a personal preference!
Yarn Bee Ritzy:
I LOVE the color selection I got here—the sage, soft rose, soft blue, yellow, and white look so pretty together! This is a pretty decent yarn overall, though definitely on the thinner side compared to Cozy Occasion. That thinner weight makes it great for more detailed crochet work; details turn out much sharper and more intricate instead of looking like a giant blob when adding embroidered elements.
Yarn Bee Soft Secret:
These are definitely the brightest part of the haul! The hot turquoise and lime are SO vibrant and will be super fun for bold projects. As the name suggests, it’s remarkably soft for acrylic yarn and very easy to work with for the most part. My only small complaint is that it can get pretty static-y, but unless you’re dragging your yarn all the way across the room for some reason, it’s not really a big deal. ![]()
Yarn Bee Snugs & Kisses (Soft Snowflake):
This is honestly one of my go-to yarns—I love it so much! The Hobby Lobby I went to actually had a ton of the white skeins in stock today, which is amazing considering they usually only have about two on the shelf per week. I normally buy other colors in this line, but with my market coming up in October, I really wanted to focus on getting those Halloween/fall vibes ready. ![]()

Overall, I’m super happy with this haul! I got a good mix of neutrals, pastels, earthy tones, and bright pops of color, which should give me plenty to work with for October.
Now let’s just hope I don’t realize in two weeks that I STILL forgot a color. ![]()
