Heyy, guyss Ive been feeling a bit discouraged lately. I feel like I spend a lot of time creating very complex patterns, and pricing very low, but still nobody is buying. I feel like I just might’ve shut shop soon…

Don’t! How long have u had them up? Also, sometimes the price can be too low, making ppl feel like they’re super cheap and low quality. It takes awhile to get a sale. Also, if u wanna stop making complex paid patterns, leave them up. You don’t have to take them down if you stop making patterns.

No! Don’t be discouraged! People come here usually for small patterns that are free, so you should make more free small patterns, and make them follower only, and they will then get your paid patterns on their feed :)

  1. Ribblr is a very amigurumi-forward platform (for crocheters).
  2. The algorithm seems to cause the same patterns and designers to show up on repeat (whether or not that’s the intention), and it can be hard to get your patterns seen.
  3. Like every business online, exposure requires you to build a following so people see your pattern drops, posts, etc.
  4. Ribblr’s audience requires people to have the app. It isn’t going to make it to a massive audience all on its own, and it’s good to supplement with other platforms if your aim is to maximize sale potential.
  5. There are tons of minors who can’t buy things on here.
  6. Everyone wants everything for free (even if the intent to turn around and make sales of the finished product).

Most importantly, what’s the point of closing shop and leaving? If you’re upset about not getting sales, not having a shop will 100% guarantee you get no sales. At least having one up leaves a chance something will sell.

I fully understand feeling discouraged when your patterns don’t sell. Mine don’t really sell either, and tons of time goes into creating the patterns, and then adding everything else on top of the pattern into Ribblr, PDFs, etc. So at the end of the day, the question really is “Does designing make me happy?” I love designing, personally, so even though I would love for patterns to sell… which is kind of the whole point of having them up for sale… I really love the artistic aspect.

I see you only have a few patterns up, and only one is paid. It is a very intricate pattern and worth more than you are offering for it. I think that the daisy bag and the blanket should be paid also

I think if you put more patterns up you will have better luck.

I really hope you stay, you make really cute things. Maybe see if some people would like you to make something for them, or design a pattern.

i looked at ur shop and i love your style and patterns!! sometimes it requires advertising more like tester calls and pattern releases and sometimes even giveaways!!
