Hmm, you could visually separate the main part with crocheted stitches. And I would crochet the “arm” of the wing as a tube.

crochet like a tube, but leave a gap like ch and continue sc skipping x amount of sts depending on how much u chained, and fo, make a slip knot, sc into gap and repeat, do a few rows, press flat, slst across
