Hey everyone! I’ve starting working on selling physical plushies online, and I need help for pricing my jumbo crochet seal as a made-to-order product.
I made it almost a year ago, so I don’t remember exactly how long it took me to make, but I believe it took me a few days.
It took almost $30 of materials because they weren’t on sale. I was thinking $75 with free shipping is a reasonable price, but my mum said that it seemed steep as someone who doesn’t crochet.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on pricing this seal. I also want to know if you would rather pay for a cheaper item and shipping, or a more expensive item that includes free shipping. Thanks!

This seal is extremely cute and cuddly, I’m sure that anyone would want to buy it <3 I’m sure it was hard work, and it really is quite big, which is great! That sould make a lovely plushie to cuddle with
I feel like buying an expensive plushie, that was fully handmade, but with free shipping would sound like better for the customer. Lets say, you post it for $70 (without shipping), or for $50 but with $20 shipping. From my own experience, customors hate to have to buy expensive things ($50 alone already would sound expensive), with a high fee with shipping ($20), so the customer would perhaps rather pay a higher price, knowing that the shipping would anyways be free. That shipping fee (if you decide to include it) would also depend on where you will be shipping the seal plush. For example, you are in Beijing, and your customer is in NYC, it would cost you quite a but to send that off, so the shipping fee would have to raise.
A question to ponder: Would the customer would a better deal or a free shipping product?
Aside from the materials ($30), you may want to charge the time that took you to make the plushie (several days).

Most people want something when it is free shipping, even though it is more expensive.
Like a $10 item with $5 shipping seems more expensive that a $15 item with free shipping.
