for my fellow sewers I need help with the sewing machine idk what i should get my highest i can go it $70 plss help on Amazon im a crochet i have never done sewing in my life!!
my mom just got a begginer machine for my sis for like around that price
If you can save up a little bit more, looking on Amazon this seems like a good machine, it has a metal frame so it shouldn’t break, but will seize if you don’t learn to oil it, I’ve just looked at the beginning machines at under $60 and they’re all plastic internally, they’re mainly made for quick repairs and not long term use, the plastic gears inside wear down fast. I have one somewhere and never use it. My nan told me it was a machine for under 10s. You need to think of what you would like to eventually do on it. This one can stitch denim etc. I own 4 machines, a vintage treadle Singer that’s just to look at, but does work. 1 heavy duty (all metal) New Home by Janome (was my nans and likely as old as I am), one plastic bodied but metal inside can do light to heavy work, but i don’t think I’d use it on thick denim (Toyota, this is my quick grab machine, ex’ mum gave me it, she was a seemstress) & an overlocker by Janome. Janomes are middle range to high end, all metal interiors, will last for years. The sewing shop guy I bought my refurbished overlocker off said stay away from modern singers as they house a lot of plastic & break. Some stores in the uk sell the new singers for under £150.
But anyway think about what you eventually want to do, go around charity shops and see if you can find some, if there’s any older people working in the charity shop ask them if they know about machines, but do not buy one unless they will show you it’s working. Some of them get dumped coz they’re seized up & they take a lot of time to get working again if nothing is broken inside.
thx
