Hi! I have been hanging out here on Ribblr for a bit now. And I want to start making tester calls for the patterns I am making. But I do have a question, what are journals? I have seen people talking about them in other peoples tester calls but I do not know what those are.
@Ribblr has the answer for you. This is where your testers leave comments about suggestions that would help your pattern and how they might feel about it. Good, bad or indifferent.
Ohh, okay. Ty for explaining!
a journal is basically a review of a pattern. you can also use it while ur in the process of making said pattern. it’s part of ribblr’s ‘eco-friendly, using less paper’ initiative thing. you pretty much use it the same as a journal you’d use to take notes on patterns youre making / made.
some designers will require testers to make a journal saying a positive thing about their pattern in order to get more publicity (ex: the more positive journals a pattern has, the better ‘look’ the pattern gets). it is pretty similar to reviews online products would have.
hopefully this makes sense, best of luck with producing patterns!
Thank you! Now I understand!
Ribblr also has a help page about it:
Thank you!
Pretty much all the patterns ive tested, the journal is just positive comments only or even just a finished picture. Usually there’s a group testing chat for all the mistakes and comments so that they can be acted on before the pattern drops. If you put the mistakes in the journal (before go live) it will be out of date. The journal can be private but if its public during testing its available for all and does change after go live (if that makes sense)
