I need help

I’m knitting a scarf and the sides keep curling and I don’t know why.
Every row (wrong and right side) start and end with 3knits. Can someone help me ?

Sorry I’m new to knitting too so I don’t know.
I just want to let you know that it looks amazing. I love all the cabling in it. :purple_heart:

Could be because the tension (some stitches has more tension than others) something you can do is afterwards block the piece.

Something else, since it looks like you’re pretty far along at the end you can knit a border around it to help maybe crochet could work as well

In the future when you knit scarves you can add some extra stitches (different from the actual piece) while making it for the border so you can make the border and scarf at the same time maybe like an inch on each side?

Try iron it with a steam iron that will help get the curl out ^^

Um you can always block and then pin it to correct size which is my go to but there are many different ways to fix curling.

Doing knit stitch does give a curled edge sometimes but that can be easily fixed by blocking the finished product.

Try the same stitch on the side.

You should use garter stitch on the ends, and it will make it look a lot cleaner. Don’t forget that knitting has a right (RS) and wrong side (WS). Looks like you’re doing something else, don’t forget purls lay flat and STS (stockinette stitch) does not. Your cables are beautiful. What kind of yarn/wool is it? If it’s acrylic, HOT water (from your tap not a kettle or anything) and some liquid softener will help it lay flatter but for the most part with acrylic yarn you have to add extra garter stitches. (Garter is K on the right side, and K on the wrong side, it lays flat nicely) But don’t steam iron it. If it’s acrylic (I’m only saying this based on your photo, if its wool soak for 3-5 min in tepid water with the softer, rinse and lay flat to dry) it can actually melt at the temperature of steam, it’s close the melting point of plastic.

  • Sincerely a lifetime knitter who HATES curled edges as well.

PS the heart cables are great but seem to be divided over a different number of stitches, check that before continuing. <3

Thank you ! This is old yarn I’m reusing so I don’t know what material it is. I did add an extra garter stitch and it’s not curling anymore. What do you mean in the ps though ?

the edging cable, (sorry not the heart cable) the little twists? they seem to be over not the same stitches on each side of the heart cable (sorry words are difficult lol)
