No, those were just practicing different stitches. Of all the things to be making first, I’m testing the Cat Butt Coaster. Jump in with both feet is my mo! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

It took me SO LONG to learn how to knit, especially bc I was using books, not videos—I threw the needles down in frustration SO MANY TIMES :rofl:

(My youthful idea of gauge consisted of using the needles I’d purchased without regard for the type of yarn :shushing_face:)

Anyway…I recommend using REALLY THICK YARN with smaller, wooden needles (so the stitches don’t slip) and cross-reference many sources until it clicks.

Try Pinterest if you can’t find free patterns on here! When I first learned I worked purely off of Pinterest patterns from people’s blogs. Theyre usually really great at providing video tutorials of their pattern and if not then there’s usually some great detail and pictures
