I need help!

Hey, guys!

I’m working on something for a costume (a pair of gloves, to be specific) and I don’t want to have to repeatedly take it on and off to use my phone and other devices.

Does anyone know of some materials (preferably fabrics) that allow me to use touchscreens?

(I asked my friend and they just said to cut the tips off of banana stems and glue ‘em on, but I’m worried it’ll rot.)

Please help!

Thank you in advance.

I believe you’d have to either make them fingerless (or just the fingers you need to use your screen).

I’m little nervous to do that, because my character has claws and I don’t want it to look weird.

I used to have winter gloves with touchscreen fabric things but I haven’t seen them since march.

That’s very interesting. I didn’t know that sort of thing was available. It may be that you haven’t seen those gloves again if it’s not the season for gloves in your location.

Would you be able to share the details and a picture of these so we can check around for you?

Well, like I said, I haven’t seen my pair since March.

I don’t have any pictures besides the occasional (and sometimes accidental) selfie, but I’m sure if you search up ‘touchscreen gloves’ they’ll show up!

I just can’t Google until my phone gets fixed (some stupid battery thing happened and now everything takes 15 times longer to load. I’m currently running a very laggy Ribblr.)

Yeah, the only thing I can think of Is touchscreen gloves so if you can get a new pair that would be good. Good luck!

So I did a quick search and this is some information I found about “touchscreen gloves”.

You can purchase conductive thread from specialty stores.

I’m wondering if this would be easy enough to hand stitch to the finger tips of your gloves.

This is another alternative. You could utilize this fabric on the tips of your fingers and would simulate paw pads.

maybe add some leather on the end?

You can make fingerless gloves maybe!! I believe regular felt works but don’t hold me to that because I’m not avid in making phone-proof gloves

How about making a slot across the base of your fingers or middle of the palm where you can slip a finger or 2 out to use on your phone?

check this website out!

im sure you can find a fabric that would work, you could cut and glue a square of that per finger!

I was thinking the same thing. You can have a full glove with a couple of exit holes built into it near the tip of each pointer finger and thumb. Here’s a picture of what that would look like:

The gloves for use with drawing tablets can be used to use a touch screen (just tested) but they only cover the ring and pinky - you could cut one up and use it for the thumb and index finger though, or wear it flipped (but the fit is a bit weird that way)

Haha the banana stems tip made me laugh so much! :joy: Do not do that, it will definitely rot.Just buy a small roll of conductive thread online and use a regular needle to stitch a tiny patch of it onto the fingertips of your gloves. It allows you to use touchscreens perfectly without ruining your costume! Hope this helps!
