Good job . I think you did a really good job at making them symmetrical.
You could use a die cutting machine? They use die (basically a blade in the shape of whatever you want to cut), then you place the fabric on top of it and use a handle to roll it through the machine with a sheet of acrylic on top. It presses the fabric into the blade and cuts the shape. You can pick them up pretty cheap. I have a sizzix brand one
Theyre so cute!
Ive used pen/marker lids to draw circles on felt then obv cut the circles out.
I have used felt a few times, so here are my tips:
- Make a stencil using paper. Either an outline, or the exact shape you will cut around. If you struggle with keeping it in place meanwhile cutting, consider tracing the shape onto your felt using a pen or some fine tip marker.
- If making a small shape, don’t sew it on. It will just make a lot of holes and not look nice.
- Use hot glue or fabric glue. If you aren’t planning on constantly using felt, the needle tools aren’t worth it.
- If you do get one of those needle tools, be extra careful what yarn you use. These tools are extra picky, so certain texture yarn either doesn’t stick well at all, or it can break your tool.
I’m still not the most advanced at using felt, but this is what I have learned from what I have done.
I normally don’t use felt for my crochet, but I have done needle felting for the faces of some amigurumis and I really liked how that looked if you would want to try that! What you’re doing now looks great though!
thank you!! I’ll definitely keep this in mind!
aw thank you!
They’re all so cuteeee
I’ve never used felt for my crochet projects before so I don’t have any tips sorry
I’ve used a hole puncher to make a small paper circle then traced it on felt to get a clean circle. Then you just cut it out like normal
i do my felt similar to @Scarletskies ! i start with two same sized squares / rectangles and slowly snip down the corners until they even out. i actually find that trying to use one circle as a template for for the 2nd circle doesn’t work too well for me - the 2nd circle tends to be smaller and more jaggedy. but i think you’re already doing great!!
here are some things i used felt (and a lot of patience for)
thank you! omg, they’re adorable
