Ideas For Ribblr!

I have a few ideas for Ribblr!

I don’t know if anyone has had these ideas before, so please don’t accuse me of stealing if someone has had an idea like the ones I’m about to list.

Here they are!

Request Chat

I got the Idea from Pixilart.

Sometimes it’s not as reliable or efficient to send a request to a specific creator, and sometimes posts get pushed down.

A chat (or list) where people can post descriptions of patterns they want designed but don’t have the time or patience to design themselves. The post doesnt have to be popular or seen to be at the top of the list. The more requests completed, the more Designer’s Points they get. (Designer’s Points are digital statistics that allow your patterns to be seen at the top of a feed, if your patterns relates to what is on said feed. It also could be a part of a leaderboard that gives you a gift of gems every year or month? The more designers points you have, the harder your requests can be.)

Videos On Posts

I know I’m not the only one who wishes to post videos from my gallery or camera roll on Ribblr Posts.

Could we get the ability to post videos on our posts as long as they’re agreeing with the guidelines? Right now it doesn’t let most people post videos unless they’re links from YouTube.

Buying From Other Creators

Currently we can only buy patterns from other creators, and soon we can buy yarn from Ribblr.

What if we could buy tools or materials frpm other creators, like Etsy?

And not just yarn.

You could buy safety/sinker eyes, or fabrics or hooks or needles.

More Craft Types!

Right now we have Knitting, Crochet, Tunisian Crochet and Sewing.

There are way more craft types out there, like painting, foam sculpting, regular sculpting, Kandi, weaving, spinning, felting, etc.

Could we have more options for patterns and crafting?

I made a post about adding Kandi to Ribblr some time ago, but I don’t think enough people saw it.

Those are my ideas! Comment what you like, and let me know what I could have said or any flaws!

i feel like the one about buying from other creators on platforms like etsy could be seen as promoting other websites, which i thought was against the guidelines. it just seems a little counter active to growing ribblr as a popular crafting platform. i do really like the other ideas though, especially the video one!

I don’t think we need more crafts here tbh .. it will get too overwhelming..

I joined specifically for knit and crochet ( I was told they are tough on ai) , not knowing there is the odd sewing pattern too , which I also do .. I personally wouldn’t want more crafts..

I have however seen people post in the community, their art etc

Where would it stop ?.

Hooks needles etc I’m sure once ribblr see how the yarn goes they may include those at some point :woman_shrugging:.. it all comes down to initial cost for them too. , and obviously how to keep prices and shipping costs down for us :woman_shrugging:..

Unless you mean buy elsewhere??

That’s not clear what your meaning

NO to all of your suggestions.

This is a fiber art platform and I personally don’t want to see other crafts included, with the exception of say weaving, felting etc which are fiber art related.

You can create a personal space for other crafts if there are enough people interested.

Definitely don’t want to have anything to do with Etsy or other external sites that don’t have morals or ethics. If you want to deal with them just go off site.

Additionally it’s sending people off Ribblr which is against Ribblr policy. If you want to see other designers sell their patterns on Ribblr, we need to make this platform more appealing for professional designers and encourage them to join us.

Posts get pushed down because they are not of interest to many people (they aren’t getting interactions). Therefore we don’t want to see stuff that doesn’t interest us continuously being pushed to the top. This would just p!55 people off.

We already have the ability to put pattern ideas and requests on the pattern wiki so there’s no need to contact pattern designers directly other than through the already adequate methods provided here.

We already have the ability to put a link to a video in a post.

I honestly never realized it was just fibre arts.

I can close the post.

(I have never really gotten any good ideas, so I guess I can just stop.)

Not true! Your ideas were good just use it in a perfect time it will work well!

Nah. I had a few posts, and most people didn’t like them.

I don’t think they’ll work.

Most of my ideas are really bad.

I think the video one was the best, but it was still really bad.

@Leaders , could you please close this post?

It’s not great, and I didn’t realize it would get so much hate.

It’s not hate. Just an opposing viewpoint and perspective. :orange_heart:

Isn’t that the definition of hate, dislike, loathe, etc?

No. It’s not.

It’s merely a different view point.

i think yes to more craft types if there is enough demand for them
