Here’s the riddle/question!
Tessa had 6 yarn balls . 2 pigeons flew in and took 1. then, 3 of them rolled off a cliff . Tessa bought 16 more yarn balls . Then a snake ate 8 of them. 2 dogs unraveled 3 more balls. Tessa re-wrapped 1 of them. Her daughter made a plushie with 2 of them, but bought Tessa 26 more yarn balls. Tessa lost 13 yarn balls, and bought 2 more to replace the missing ones. Tessa’s friends made her a plushie with 8 of the yarn balls. They then gave her some money to buy some more yarn. Tessa bought 11 more yarn balls. Tessa’s 18 cats unraveled 3 big yarn balls. Tessa decided to make a yarn cabinet to protect her yarn.
a) How many yarn balls did Tessa have left?
b) how much money do YOU think she probably spent on all the yarn?
c) how many animals were mentioned?
EDIT
a) She has 24 balls + 5 unraveled heaps.
b) $419.65 plus tax. She bought 35 balls. If they’re all priced low Bernat Blanket, they’re $419.65 plus tax. I originally forgot that her sister bought 26 of the balls!
c) Total number: 23, total different animals: 4.
Ahem- axolotl math.
6-1 -3 +16-8-3+1-2+26-13+2-8+11-3. (Since you didn’t say that pigeons didn’t take 1 EACH, the dogs didn’t ruin 3 EACH, and the cats didn’t unravel 3 EACH, I didn’t do multiplication.)
a) 21 balls!
b) For all that yarn, that prolly costed around $250 (Depending on weight, quality, etc.)
c) 2 pigeons + 1 snek + 2 doggo + 18 cets= 23. 23 aminals. (All spelling “mistakes”
are on porpoise. ; ) )
Yay! Axolotl math does, in fact, exist. I also use plenty of GIRL MATH AND YES. RIBBLR NEEDS AN AXOLOTL EMOJI. CAN SOMEONE MAKE A POST BOUT DAT?! CAN WE ASK THEM SOMEHOW?! I want one…
1.26, but did she make the yarn cabinet out of yarn or is the yarn cabinet just for the yarn
2. ALOT, yarn isn’t cheap ( unless she got dollar tree yarn
3. 23 animals
