Hi guys! I haven’t really been active lately, nor have I been crafting for a while now. My motivation for crocheting atm sucks and I can’t seem to focus or even sit down to even finish a single project. Any ideas on how I can get back on track and to be able to focus on a project? Trying my best to stay off devices as much as I can because I feel like that’s getting in the way what I love to do most (which is crocheting), so I’ll be on every now and then just to check on y’allz opinions on what can help me start crocheting again.
I’m sorry this is happening to u rn ;( I honestly feel the same, I havent crocheted in such a long time because I’ve been busy with rehearsals and school, and I also feel like devices are distracting me from crocheting. I once took a few months break from crochet since I didn’t have any motivation, and that break made me re-gain my motivation! I also agree with the comment above- whip up a small, easy project that is like SUPER CUTE (ex. mini no-sew dragon, or cute baby cow) which will be so cute that it will motivate u and u need to make an army of them >-<
Hope you get back ur motivation again! :)
I’ve been there quite a few times lol XD and I agree: making things you really enjoy helps a lot. U feel accomplished after finishing it ^^ what also helps me to get back on track is either seeing inspo online or putting some nice music on my headphones :3 or a podcast, or re-watching a movie, or really just anything that can make my crocheting more enjoyable!!
My advice or what helps me is kind of opposite to others comments whenever im in a big slump i find it helps to find a project that kinda challenges me. More advanced patterns or something that i just really like and havent taken the time to make. I almost exclusively make gifts so finding something fun just for myself is a nice way to get back into it.
I’ve been in a similar situation more than once and the thing that helps me get out of it the most is being accountable to someone. That’s why I would suggest you to look at the tester calls and apply for something super cute. If you promised someone you would do it, I think you have a better chance of making yourself sit down and actually crocheting it, and once you start, then everything will get in its place.
I hope you get out of this swamp soon and feel better! 🩵
Dont worry thou everyone gets out of it once and a while just force yurself to sit down and crochet something tou wont regret it, start with something as simple as a little octopus then move to a big project
Ooooh i ahve a greeaat crochet project for you its “Mouse in a Suitcase”
You can get it on etsy
I am so focused on it and its soooooo cute!!!
And watch a good show while crocheting and dont forget lots of snacks!!!(chocolates are best)
This has happened to me before . Usually you can either take a break from crocheting and do something else you enjoy, or you can continue to crochet just maybe switch it up a bit! Like making something you’ve wanted to make for a long time or just searching for crochet patterns that you REALLY want to make! And as some other people suggested, making gifts and stuff for people !
I also do a lot of art and things like that so sometimes I do just take a break from crocheting or drawing to do the other hobby! It’s got okay to take breaks and feel burnt out! You could also just freehand little plushies so you don’t need to worry about everything being perfect!
Make small things that are cute (maybe use big eyes)
Look through all the crocheted things you have with you atm and see how you have progressed as a crocheter.
Scroll and look for ideas BUT don’t just keep scrolling, go make it.
If you do markets this one is good: Always keep track of how much you make at each market, go back and read those number and let it sink in. it’s a business!
Write a pattern, sign up for a Collab and a bunch of tests with DUE DATES
I just made myself sit down and crochet and ended up making three projects in two days. I like to listen to music or a YouTuber I like and zone out. Sometimes it’s easiest to make sure everything in your surroundings is how you like it so you can relax!
I think maybe you should mind some small projects, start from a tiny heart to something bigger, just keep doing what you are doing, stay off of the devices, and focus on what you love
