Is it just me or....

So i feel like i love this yarn has some strange peoblems with its quality. I had white from a few months/a year ago on a wip, and the quality is very different. It used to be pretty thick but now it seems really skimpy. It looked pretty matte but now its really shiny. Really it seems to be mostly on the white.

Idk if u can really see that but it is so much shinier on the row on the ouside

Yeah a lot of yarn has varying quality - one of the yarns that I use the most is Loops and threads and they aren’t always consistent - I would maybe recommend (if possible) going into the store and trying to pick out the best one? Sometimes I like to bring my hook with me just to be sure

Yeah especially loops and threads, if I compare a skein from a couple years ago to a new one, the new one is thinner.

I dont order online for the same reason. But i was in a hurry the day i bought this skein and didnt pay attention.

The only way to get around this is to buy all at the same time, or in same dye lot, AND 1 more skein/ball/hank than you think you need.

Yes I do see that.

Sometimes being wound up can make the yarn fibers compress, which can make it look more shiny, and it’s possible that it may appear more shiny on the white as it’s easier to see on the white.

I usually do my blocking with a steamer, so i’m not sure if this would work with regular blocking, but after blocking my things, if they’re shiny, they’re usually a bit more matte afterwards

But with white, i didnt think it would matter that much
