There are multiple news articles going around saying that Joann Fabrics may be the next big retailer to go under.
I know that the hours of certain Joann Fabrics stores have been wonky and staffing issues have been present even BEFORE the pandemy but I don’t think I can handle another major yarn store closing. I haven’t been the same since A.C. Moore Arts & Crafts closed.
Many customers have sighted their online shopping experience was horrible. It did take a while for me to get my yarn order, but I did save a lot on the Pride collection of yarn.
I personally didn’t need the yarn in any rush so I was fine waiting (I think it took me about 10 to 12 days to get my very large package of yarn…shh! Don’t tell my husband!
I am not impressed with the yarn selection at Michael’s and I’ll be damned to shop at Hobby Lobby (I have many issues with their political stances that are very anti-woman and anti-LGBTQ+ as well as their very sh!tty stance during the height of the pandemy, saying that “God will protect you” and essentially go back to work or see yourself out when no common person had access to PPE).
So…who is stocking up on Big Twist?! I might need to pack my patience and shop in store.
I havent heard anything, it seems to be thriving in mt neck of the woods. Then again, it seems most brick and mortar shop are moving to online only, so maybe thats the case?
I can confirm that Joann is on the brink of bankruptcy due to issues with it’s parent company. We’ll just have to see, but it will definitely affect Joann in someway. I think Joann on its own is doing fine but some of the other companies within the group are struggling so it impacts Joann as well.
ahh that explains a few of the issues i encountered on my order with them, but even then i hope they manage to stay afloat! those yarns are gorgeous btw
If the situation does end up effecting JOANN you might look at places like Hobbii, premier yarns website, lion brands website, there are probably more, but those are the ones that came to the top of my mind. Also look into local and small businesses yarn stores in your area and region.
But same though i dont like shopping at Hobby Lobby because of the same reasonssss
Also that yarn is so cute! I definitely will be stocking up on big twist now
The best case scenario is that they’re doing a big sale to make their sales numbers look really good before February when inventory numbers come out. In order to gain investors interest to keep the company afloat and there stock price up.
I bought a new sewing machine and it took 10 days and I got no I tracking information. I was so anxious to get my new machine and it was a major purchase for me. Then in early December it took 13 days to get my order which was a problem because I ordered items to crochet Christmas gifts.
I am unauble to drive so depend on delivery. I was really wondering what was going on.
In the same time I ordered from Vilrita in Lituania and got my order faster!!!
ye both of the joannes near where i live are basically barren , the floss and yarn are always out of stock. its been like this for almost a year now tho.
