Does anyone else have a love/hate relationship with making granny squares? I’ve made over 40 in the past couple of days and never want to make another granny square again but the squares look good in all of the different projects, so I’ll have to just get over it
I know what you mean. As for me, it helps to have more than 1 WIP, usually 4-5. When I get bored with one WIP, or my hands hurt from the thick yarn, or one requires intense concentration, and so on- I switch WIPS.
I’m doing good right now because I only have 3 Wips
I only really like making giant granny squares haha. I don’t like joining anything so if I make small ones there’s a good chance they’ll get punted to a charity shop over actually assembling them
I trick my brain every time, not to feel that I am actually making granny squares (especially when they look the same), so for example I call my mum and I do them while I’m talking. It works for me, because otherwise I would just sit there and talk, but instead I am making 3-4 granny squares without even realising it.
It is not the same when I watch a youtube video or something because it’s more passive. But when I am talking it makes me feel that I am doing something else.
Does it make sense to you?
Makes perfect sense.
I have never made a granny square, so i really cant compare lol but i seen qay too many amazing projects that use them… I just dont know where to start
To be honest I haven’t ever made one. true story
I get that lol I recently made a bunch for a blanket and I never wanted to make granny squares again, but after a while I kind want to make more
You start in the middle
I’m being a smartass of course, but there are tons of patterns here that will help you! Also videos on YT that will walk you through it. I find them frustrating and tedious at times, but they also offer a super quick feeling of completion and soooooo much variety! Definitely give them a try!
Edit: I just quickly vetted this one for you and it looks easy to follow: Basic Granny Square - Crochet Tutorial for Beginners - YouTube
Thanks a bunch! I just watched the video and I think ill tackle it later!
