Language learning 🇯🇵

I’ve made a similar post awhile ago but ribblr constantly has new people so I want to post again! I am learning Japanese because I have a lot of friends that prefer speaking Japanese over English. I’ve been consistently studying since February. I use a lot of different resources at home. (I really want to start in person lessons but i currently self study) I use several apps and books including
Duolingo
Bunpo
Memrise
RoboKana
Shirabe Jisho
Japanese English bilingual picture dictionary
Learn to read Japanese with manga
Beginner Japanese grammar

Other ways I learn Japanese is by being in an environment that I will only hear Japanese (at a friends house or getting lunch with friends) I speak Japanese very minimally but I do understand quite a bit I will start speaking Japanese with friends next month because a bilingual friend of mine will be teaching me conversational Japanese! If anyone is learning Japanese please let me know and we can start a group chat here on ribblr 🫶🏻
Japan is the home of amigurumi and I find it everywhere and it’s such a fun topic that I would love to start if anyone is interested in that
Sorry this post was so long :sob:

I did learn Japanese a couple of years ago before visiting Japan unfortunately I forgot nearly everything…
Do you know GenkiJacs? It’s a Japanese school for foreigners in Japan. I went there for a week (in Fukuoka) but they offer online classes as well. To use their books you need to be able to read hiragana and katakana.
The school offers stays in Japanese families as well and they choose families that don’t or barely speak English so that you’re forced to speak Japanese. I did this and it was really a great experience.

I think that sounds like a great idea! I would have to do online courses because I am under 18 and wouldn’t be able to do the other option but i would love that for when I am an adult!

I do know hiragana and katakana so that would be perfect for me! My friends are always making me practice :joy:

I’m not sure but I think these programs start from 16 onwards, with ok from the parents but not sure.

Yes I would’ve loved to take online courses after the trip but it was too complicated because of the time difference to France

Glad I can help! Some do require a subscription but it isn’t too expensive and if you are really interested in speaking it’s worth it in my opinion.

Hiiii
I studied japanese for 3 years in college. I intend to live in Japan next year so I still “study” by watching series, reading journal, listening to podcasts and talking to myself (reading books is boring :sleepy:)
The group idea is cool ! Did you already create it ?
