I am learning to knit (finally) and I do not know what is easy for a beginner to learn to knit. I literally only know knit, purl, stockinette, and garter stitches. I don’t even know how to read a knitting pattern. I have many different needle sizes, a hat knitter (not automatic) and a ton of yarn and determination. I am not asking for anyone to go out and find me patterns, I can do that myself, but you are welcome to if you feel like it. I am asking what types of projects are easy for knitting beginners?
Try something that is useful such as a beanbag made with garter stitch in a square , then blocked, then use two double pointed needles to make an i-cord loop (it literally means idiot cord) look and sew it onto the corner of your finished square potholder. I know that this may seem like a very boring project, but it will improve your knitting skills. Use nonsuperwash wool yarn and size 8 needles
Cast on 20 stitches
Gather stitch for 30 rows
Bind off
I cord
Cast on 3 stitches using the yarn behind the real working yarn knit all stitches. Work i-cord for 3 inches. Bind-Off Row: K1, knit 2 together (k2tog), pass first stitch over second stitch and off right needle.
Cut yarn leaving a 9 inch tail
Pull yarn through remaining stitch.
Also you can felt your potholder using boiling water and gloves put on heat proof gloves and rub the finished potholder together by agitating the wool fibers until you can no longer see any knitted stitches. Then let sit on a towel until completely cool and dry. Voila! Your very own potholder, good for holding onto hot things, and giving as gifts for your friends who like to cook.

I made a simple cowl for my first knit project. Cast on as many stitches as it fits in your neck area and knit for as many rows a you would like, until, when sew to two sides together, it make a loop that fits around your neck.
I don’t recommend anything huge like a scarf cuz they can get boring, but if you’ve got knits and purls down you should start working on increases and decreases! I would start with something not too big like a lil mini neck scarf, a hat of some sorts, or even a more basic pair of socks if you’re feeling adventurous, tin can knits has a website and an app with quite a few pattern like these and they have great explanations for EVERYTHING.
