Least yarn consuming stitches?

Hello y’all! I’ve been wanting to crochet a sweater with the LEAST yarn possible, but I have no idea what stitch to use. I had some really cute and soft yarn I wanted to use but I feel like I might not have enough (like 3 medium cakes, eventually might get a skein or two more but preferably not more than 6 in total :sob: ). I also don’t want a mesh sweater. What stitch should I use that would consume the least yarn?

taller stitches, like double crochet or treble crochet, use the least amount of yarn ^^ i’ve also heard using v-stitches is good for stretching limited yarn amounts

I will definitely try that! :D

Probably the treble crochet!

Ok so I looked it up and I got these: double crochet, treble crochet, moss stitch, and v stitch. My advice would be to avoid using treble crochet, as it results in gaps. And if you use dc I just want to say that it will not be super warm~
Hope this helps!

I might do dc because it’s therapeutic  The yarn is already cotton so might as well be a sweater for summer ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I mean, who doesn’t like cute summer sweaters? (even if it’s like 6 degrees where I live) :joy: Thank you!!

oo nice! I’m in the process of making my first sweater and I am using dc, it’s so satisfying. one of the panels somehow turned out to be bigger than the other one tho :sob:

it’s also my first sweater actually!! I’ve only made a hexagon cardigan once for my sister, and even then it was a bit too small :sob: (I have two other granny square cardigans in the process)

Same! I hate when store-bought clothes are too small/too big so finally I was like “I can crochet. I’m crocheting clothes today” and that was about 4-5 months ago yet I have no crochet clothes :sob:

Ikr!! I was looking for a specific sweater but they were all lowk expensive, and I was like I can just make this myself, and get a 2-for-1 deal: crochet and clothes. And I also realized I had no crochet clothes, and that I mostly make amigurumi that sits on my dresser :sob:

I also do a lot of amigurumi :heart_hands: (that is found in literally every room :joy: ) but recently I’ve been into bags and wearables (despite not finishing any wearables yet :sob: )

Same, I want to make moree wearables (but then my attention span says NO :sob:)
I have been super into making cute little pouches lately~

ooo I love pouches :heart_hands: but I never get to making any because I’m like “ok I have all these WIPS i’ve gotta finish” then oh no! I need to make some new amigurumi for my shop/YouTube and then I make something new and then get distracted again by some other project that I want to do and my WIPS end up getting frogged or forgotten and I end up with no wearables pouches or anything else I want to make ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fr, it’s like the downward spiral of crocheting :sob:
I literally have a blanket I’ve been trying to make for 2 years but I have like no time. I’ve actually only made 2 pouches (and another one that was a FLOP), and I want to make more but I have so much gifts and stuff that need to be crocheted

Even the idea of starting a blanket makes my head hurt  how long have you been crocheting? (in general)

Almost two years! Hbu?

I cannot remember exactly. I think also almost 2 years because I remember learning in December of 2024. It was snowing when the teacher came over to teach me the basics of crochet. :heart_hands:
