And if you see something on Pinterest or Etsy, get inspiration from those patterns, but don’t necessarily recreate an almost identical copy just because it isn’t on Ribblr. I sometimes see people requesting a specific pattern to be made (and requesting it be free) because there are only paid versions available. As was stated above, that isn’t fair to the original creator. If you are a crocheter, that means you have a creative mind! Don’t put so much pressure on yourself to design a pattern asap. In time, when you let your creative juices flow, you will design a great pattern. Just my 2 cents!

Yes, creating a “new” pattern for a bee or turtle or jellyfish and it’s been a little annoying, especially in tester calls because hello? there are already so many. I get it, originality is hard but thinking outside the box is all about creativity! Maybe we can do a different type of bee it turtle, one that’s not already out!

I found a pattern for a bee turtle, yes it’s the basic turtle but at least there’s a unique thing about it.

I TOTALLY agree since I see so many frogs, bees, octos, and etc and the thing is that they look like the exact SAME!!

I admit i do have an octo pattern but I created it cuz i needed it for my markets and couldn’t find one through Google search that the arms weren’t just multiple stitches into one stitch or ruffly, I made mine to fit what I wanted and put it on ribblr when I joined to share a octo pattern that I personally made and actually prefer over other ones. Though now when I search on ribblr I see many similar ones. I only see similar ones on ribblr, not other platforms. I didn’t have ribblr at the time and relied on google search to find patterns.

Yes, but here’s 5 that are the same, I’m not trying to start anything, the bee is just the first thing that popped into my head. There’s not much difference in the appearance, I’m sure the instructions are different, but to me they look basically the same!

I wasn’t saying that you were wrong, i am aware there’s many bees that are the same, l was just showing that there’s still possibilities to make unique bees but few people actually do that.

Yes, and I’m actually glad you found one cause it’s pretty cool. I do totally get it, and dragons and octos and jellies. Just the basic easier animals. The originality is slowing evaporating. I think this topic needs to be read and seriously thought of!

Exactly. This is theft, and it’s wrong. I understand that those who do this are likely children, but ignorance isn’t an excuse here in my opinion.
I also understand wanting a pattern that’s accessible to you if you cannot pay for patterns yourself. However, just because you want something, doesn’t give you the right to steal it.
Ask your parents for the pattern. Save up your allowance. Save birthday money up. If you’re old enough, put money aside from paychecks to put towards your hobbies and support the original creators instead of stealing from them.
There are also plenty of other pattern resources out there other than Ribblr. If the pattern isn’t available here, you are more than capable of finding the pattern elsewhere, like Ravelry. It’s absurd to me that so many folks here don’t even know what Ravelry is. When I first began my fiber arts journey, it was essentially the only place to find patterns online 
and it still is a great resource. It has the benefit of being around for nearly two decades, and a plethora of patterns to show for it.
The bottom line I guess I’m trying to get across is that this isn’t the only place to find patterns. Sure, Ribblr has really fantastic innovative features, but I think lots of people would benefit from expanding their resources, stepping out of the echo chamber, and learning a bit more about pattern making (and patterns in general) before diving head first into trying to set up a shop here by making the same simple patterns that already exist in abundance, or ripping off others work.

Ik what ravelry is, it’s hard to use cuz it’s a very outdated website and you need an account to look at anything.

I don’t find it difficult to use at all. There are also a few apps that make navigation even easier.
You also need an account here on Ribblr, so I don’t find that a very good argument in this case /gen

I like using YouTube, Etsy, and Google search to find patterns. Though with Etsy 50% of the stuff i see is ai so u need to sort the results from highest reviews.
My favorite YouTube channel/etsy shop for patterns is Complicated Knots, her patterns are amazing and all unique.

On ribblr you can browse the website without an account, with ravelry you can’t simply browse, if I click on anything it tells me to sign up.

To each their own. I don’t enjoy working from videos, or having to sift through a bunch of AI slop, but I would never say YouTube or Etsy weren’t good places to look for patterns.
In fact, YouTube is a fantastic free resource for fiber arts and learning.
Just because you personally don’t enjoy something doesn’t mean someone else won’t /gen
I’m not trying to sound overly sharp or unkind with these replies, but my original message about being able to look elsewhere for the patterns you want (instead of stealing them to put them here as your own) still stands, and Ravelry is always an option that I will recommend to people, because it seems like it’s fallen off the radar for a lot of people (seeing how I consistently see people say they’ve never even heard of it. Just had someone say it to me today!)

on YouTube some videos display lots of rows written at a time so what I do is pause and complete the rows then skip to the next section of rows. Complicated knots displays up to like 15 rows at a time. Just cuz it’s YouTube doesn’t mean you have to sit and watch them do it.
