Let's Talk About Originality in Our Community

And some channels also have an Etsy shop or website you can purchase the written pattern from.

i don’t sift through patterns I just select highest reviews (just like selecting high to low for prices) and I don’t see the ai patterns.

I already said YouTube and Etsy were great places. my point still stands that ravelry is also a good resource, and I brought it up because many people don’t know what it even is, while YouTube and Etsy are common knowledge. Talking to another person right now about it in lounge chat who’s never heard of it!

I’m gonna leave it at that, because I fear my point is being missed entirely here. :head_shaking_vertically:

I’m not wanting to argue with you I’m just trying to clarify misunderstanding and provide solutions for problems.

I’m sure ravelry is great I just find it hard to use if you don’t have an account.

Accounts are free :head_shaking_vertically:

I am aware of that, I plan to make an account eventually but I’m in no rush.

What are the apps that help with navigation?

kntd:discover is the one I use. Free with ads, but you can pay to remove them like here. There is another app that’s a one time purchase paid app but I haven’t tried it. If you google Ravelry apps you’re bound to find it if you’re interested, though.

Yh I get u I’ve been on ribblr for almost a year now and I think there isn’t enough og patterns I also think there’s much more of the same things is because free pattern = easy pattern normally, so alot of people who just want to post simple free patterns will just do the same thing. But we also shouldn’t judge people who do becausenmany just want to be part of the community u know?

Yes, I love Ravelry. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

It’s an amazing place to search for quality patterns.

I’ve been using it for years.

Your profile says you’ve been on Ribblr since June 12. :orange_heart::smiley:

I have to disagree with you here. I’ve seen some amazing patterns on Ribblr for free that aren’t ‘easy’, or ‘beginner-friendly’. The first that comes to mind is the giant turtle by @craftycellist .

It’s fine that people want to be part of the community, however, they also need to follow the guidelines, which includes, not copying/plagiarising other people’s work and trying to pass it off as their own pattern.

But you need an account for Ribblr too if I’m not mistaken.

I totally agree but when i started crocheting it was hard to know where to beggin so many who aren’t as experienced obviously will not want to try making hard patterns (oh and ivebeen on ribblr for a year but then I got a new phone in June and wasn’t logged in) and I do agree that it is theft because that’s someone else’s idea so yh at end of day don’t post patterns until ur experienced I guess

I don’t think it’s outdated or difficult to navigate.

The search filters are fantastic and you can really narrow down your search to get the most relevant patterns. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Like everything new, it takes awhile to get familiar with the platform and learn your way around.

It doesn’t bother me that I have to sign in to access it. I have to sign in to use Ribblr.

I understand what you mean. That’s one reason why I don’t spend a lot of time in the community area of the app.

This is why I keep emphasising the point that people need to learn how to crochet first. :folded_hands:

Master the basics and focus on learning and getting better. This often takes years of practice. Stop focusing on making patterns when you don’t yet know how to crochet properly and haven’t yet mastered the basics.

We already have so many patterns on ribblr that no one will use/buy because they’ve obviously been made by people who’ve only just begun learning to crochet. These patterns clog up our search results and create frustration.
