Looking for help making crescent wings

Hello everyone! My daughter has tasked me to make a midnight dragon. I’m currently stuck on how to make the wings she wants. Basically, they are simple crescents tipped on their sides. I’m using Bernat blanket for this and they seem to just be getting chunky in the middle, but staying straight. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :relieved:

Basically you crochet a circle and fold in half. Ami Amour has a dragon on her website and she has a dragon wing pattern on there.

This is the one I made using her pattern, just to maybe give you an idea of the wings.

If you want it to be more 3d style you could always do strategic inc and dec to get that crescent shape. I’m excited to see how the dragon comes out!

That is so adorable!! Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Unfortunately, she doesn’t like those wings (that’s all I’ve been able to find).

These are the ears I made in chenille and she wants them just like this but in blanket weight. I’ve tried replicating how I made the ears, but they do not turn out even remotely similar.

Ahh thank you, I’ll try that. I tried going 2slst, 2sc, 2hdc, 2dc, 2hdc, 2sc, 2slst on a ch15 but it would not bend, it just got lumpy.

Seems like that should work in theory. But if you do it in the round it should also add a little stability to the wings!

What an awesome concept, so creative! If you’re wanting them more flat, have you maybe tried working a taller stitch in a similar pattern to your working idea? Or even increasing the number of chains so you can work it over a greater distance or conversely trying it over fewer chains since the yarn takes up more real estate. If I was home I’d try to help troubleshoot, but that’s what I would probably experiment with if I was going for a more flat piece. Otherwise, I was also going to suggest what Squeaky said with the strategic inc and dec to make a more 3d shape (not sure if that’s what your kiddo is looking for though ).

I suppose I could have been a little less vague  she wanted them flat worked, banana shaped but not so curved. Soooooo I looked up applique patterns and found this

I edited the last row to take out some of the incs and got this

And now she is sewing them on  they aren’t perfect, but she’s happy with them.

Aww well it looks great; good call looking up appliques! And as long as she is happy with them - that’s what matters most! Glad you were able to find a solution! ^.^
