Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone has any tips to do with the magic ring? When I tighten the ring, the stitches get so so tight I can’t even get my hook through or I can’t even seen the stitches as I when I pull the loose end, it likes the stitches go inwards.
If anyone has any tips I’d greatly appreciate it, thank you!

I don’t use magic ring… I don’t trust it… but this would help either way
I use the old-fashioned chain, join, work into the ring but I was taught to work over my tail in that ring. Stay with me… then you work another round or two, THEN you pull the tail tight.
That might work better for you to wait to pull the ring tight was my point.

Thank you for this, I’ll try this method and see how it goes.

When I can’t fit my hook through the stitches in my magic ring, it’s usually because the stitches I’ve put into the ring were already too tight even before I tightened the ring.
The tension of those stitches is important because that is where your next round of stitches goes, not the middle of the ring (which is the main part you tighten when pulling the tail).
Have you tried keeping a looser tension in your first round, especially in the loop that is on your hook when you start the stitch?

I agree with Charlios… Try not to make your ring stitches too tight. I also have better success if I tighten the ring after I have done another round or two. Hope that helps!

I also had this problem! In general, just remeber to keep your stitches a bit looser than normal- you can resume to normal ones after the mr. Also, you dont have to pull the string all the way at first. If you leave your mr tail a little loose, you can tighten it again after your inc round.

I do mine a bit diffrently, I find it easier than the x around your fingers. I chain 2 and do as many sc in the 2nd chain as the pattern says. If it says 6 sc then do 6 in the 2nd chain. Then pull the yarn to close the hole
Hope this helps:)

Magic ring methods tend to be effected by the yarn weight. Higher weight/more chunky yarn do a normal ring but keep your first stitches looser then normal. For smaller weight yarn do a double ring and start the second round before fully tightening. Loosely tighten, do 3-4 stitches before fully tightening.

Try this tutorial i use this over any other method i can adjust the tightness. The trick is to not over tighten before you fully close it off.
