making glasses for amigurumi - tips and advice

hello everyone! long time no see lol, ive been jam packed with orders lately so i apologize for my absence. someone has requested me to make a doll of Blippi (a children’s entertainer) which isn’t a problem at all. the only thing im worried about is that he has glasses, and im not too sure how i should go about making them. im thinking that using orange pipe cleaners would be good, but im open to any tips or advice any of you may have on this matter. thanks for everything! <3

I’ve seen people use a paper clip (or something), but it was a while ago so I don’t remember 100%

Id love to see the finished product if you can show us

I made Blippi once and just used orange yarn and crocheted the glasses.

was it not too floppy? if you still remember how you did them, would you mind letting me know? no worries if you don’t remember though

I just winged it. Don’t remember how. Here is a picture though. Stitched on, not removable.

You could always crochet around the pipe cleaners/ some wire if you’re worried about the floppiness but still want the crochet look

You could use florist wire if you want a more visible wire

maybe use some wire andcrochet around it ???

You could use pipe clears, but if it is a small child you could crochet around it and stick the ends into the plush it self, so that way it would stay on the doll and be safe!! :revolving_hearts:

im not exactly sure how old the child receiving it is, but I’ll probably do this, thanks!!

Oh one tip I used to make the same doll for a friend of mines use wire and single crochet around it like you would a crochet scrunchie then shape the glasses

Maybe surface crochet or embroidery?

If wire isn’t an option (kids might chew on it) perhaps a long crochet chain then single crochet around it to shape it into a pair of glasses?

Or some kind of plastic pair of small glasses you can single crochet around?

Amazon sells glasses that will fit dolls

It is just a matter if they have them in the size you need

i like using jewelry wire and wrapping the yarn around it!

bend a wire into the shape of glasses and crochet around it! If you really want to add a lens you can probably glue some plastic wrap on it
