Would anyone be interested in a crochet and/or knit along next month?
For those who don’t know a CAL (crochet-along) or KAL (knit-along) is basically when a group of crafters work on the same project over a designated period of time.
I was thinking we could choose a free pattern from Ribblr and spend the month working on the same pattern together, sharing progress/wips, encouraging one another, talking through any potential hiccups/our yarn, etc., as a way to build community and just work on a larger type of project as a group since larger projects are often easier when others help motivate us (and seem to be less daunting with others working alongside us). I think it would be a great way to support designers, too.
My idea was that everyone could make suggestions on which patterns from Ribblr to use, then I could compile them into a poll and we could vote on the one we want to try. Once the pattern is established we would then come together and people can either share at random as they work through the pattern or I can come up with pattern-specific prompts/goals and we check in weekly. For bonus fun, I’ll gift participants a pattern from their wishlist for joining in during the month.
For this particular event, I’m thinking a wearable or home goods item might be our best bet since they tend to take a little longer than stuffies/amigurumi, but I’m open to any suggestions.
If anyone would be interested, let me know and if so, please tell me if you’d take part in a crochet-specific version, a knit-specific version, or if you’re open to either a crochet or knit version. And if you’re especially eager, feel free to drop any pattern suggestions you may have

A shawl is a fantastic idea; I’ll take a look and see which patterns I can find - feel free to share any if you’ve had your eye on any in particular!

I would love to but my mom is due in March and I’m going to be really busy helping her with the newborn and my 6 younger siblings. (I’m the 6th of soon to be 13)

i haven’t seen any in particular, but i know a shawl will really add to my grandma energy, i even saw some really pretty yarn at the store that would make a lovely pastel shawl

That seems super fun, and maybe it would help me get the courage/motivation to make a big/clothing project!

That’s lovely of you to help your mom out with your siblings, and I can definitely see why it would be a challenge for you to join in on this round. I am from a big family, too, so I absolutely understand that special brand of (love and) chaos, haha. I hope the transition from 12 to 13 is as gentle as possible for all invovled.
I would like to try to do this a few months randomly during the year, though, so hopefully you’ll be able to join us another time as we would love to have you.

I love that! We must maximize the grandma energy!! I’m a sucker for pastels, so I’ve no doubt it is a beauty! I’ll keep my eyes peeled for a shawl pattern to put in the running!
Yes, absolutely! It makes challenging tasks much more manageable when you have the encouragement and support of others cheering you on. I find it also inspires me when I see fellow crafters making progress on a project, and so I’m more likely to hold myself accountable and work on it. Would be delighted to have you join in

I am up for any crochet thing. I think a pillow or blanket is a good idea. If you decide to do a knit version I would join if the pattern was a simple beginner friendly pattern, I know how to do basic stitches and I am open to doing harder things!

It sounds really interesting. I’m definitely interested in a CAL, maybe in a KAL, if it’s a really easy pattern, as I can’t knit yet, but want to learn it.

I know you’re thinking about March but I saw this and wanted to get the word out!! Me and some other ribblr friends are going to host a CAL in April! Right now we are designing cute spring themed amigurumi, and then each week in April we plan on releasing a free pattern. If you make all 4 patterns by the end of April you can win a prize!! Likely a pattern from each of us, but we’re still in the planning process! @CosmikEluminatedC @Doggie and @BEEutifulCreations
