PS: I am so sorry if I didn’t include you as a designer cred, I did the ones I remembered. Let me know and I’ll add you to the list. A lot of the items were pattern tests so if you know that I tested one of these items for you and you weren’t mentioned, please let me know
PPS: I did not display all of the items during the market since a lot were out of season or didn’t match my theme.
PPPS: If you would like me to add what sold, or what inventory I had left over, just comment! I’m trying to make this as thorough of a guide as possible for those doing markets.
The market was at my school and it went from 11-3. We were told to start setting up at 10:30. I got there at 10:33 and I found the perfect table right at the front of the door where people would enter from!
However, the tables they provided were really thin and there was no way I would be able to display even half of the items I brought. So, we got creative and used my bins that I had brought for inventory and crates to put them on the bench of the table and put my table cloth over them to give us a bit more room. Hopefully that helps if you’re ever stuck in that situation!!
Also, there were 3 other amigurumi vendors with one other vendor offering like five plushies along with everything else. I got several comments throughout the day about the saturation of crochet. People seemed to like it though! The market area was fairly small so people could get back to the items they liked the most. Thankfully, we all had different items that we offered so it was a matter of personal preference.
HUGE TIP: Make sure your items look professional! I got told several times throughout the day that mine were the most well-made and my stand looked the most professional. It really matters how you display your items. I used tags for all of my items rather than signs so that the booth did not look super cluttered.
The market had a pretty slow start and I only made a couple of sales. I took that as a sign that the day would be slow but boy, was I wrong. Things took a turn after about an hour and I consistently had traffic with several sales. The majority of people that saw my booth the first time came back and bought something. I think this had something to do with my prime location and the overall layout of the market. Kudos to the organizers for that one.
I tried to offer several unique patterns and items and I was rewarded! Many people loved the creative spin I had on my plushies. Ribblr patterns are great as I haven’t seen many sold at markets! Also, if you can, make sure to have a mix of both free and paid patterns because many vendors just stick to the free patterns that everyone uses and are ignored for having the same thing.
Now, for the amount of money I made!
CASH: $346 (I forgot to count change, so I think it may have been closer to $335-340)
- Make sure you have change!!! The majority of my customers only had 20s.
VENMO: $10
ZELLE: I kept track of my sales but I haven’t counted it up yet so I’ll edit here when I do
TOTAL AMOUNT MADE: $443
Booth fee was $20, so the profit was $423!!
This is one of the greatest markets I’ve done so far! The most I’ve ever made was ~$480 with a $50 booth fee meaning that I profited ~$430 and that was a two day market with 8-hour days! Meaning that this has been my most successful market so far!
I thought it would be a good idea to add bestsellers
:
Axolotls 7/7 sold
Birds 9/17 sold
Fruit Hat Duckies 2/2 sold
Bunnies with Accessories 2/2 sold
Squids 4/8 sold
My dragons got a lot of attention but I only sold one
