"Market" Prep! Results included!

Hi Ribblrs! (Ribblrers..??) prepare for a long post..

I’m preparing for a market of sorts (selling at my sister’s school dance literally tomorrow rfom 5-7..) and I wanted to show off what I’ve made so far!!

From the big bin we haveee..

One snake ($18)

2 stegos ($10 each)

6 mushies ($13 each, one in each color of the rainbow cause happy pride month and why notttt)

3 big octos ($8 each)

2 leggy frogs ($8 each)

Now for the small bin…

7 round frogs ($8 each)

11 worry worms ($8 each)

10 mini ducks ($4 each)

4 regular octos ($3 each)

4 octo keychains ($5 each)

2 otter keychains ($5 each)

8 mini turtles ($3 each)

8 mini loaf cats ($6 each)

11 penguins ($5 each)

Aaaaaaand 9 flower bookmarks ($2 each)

Altogether, all of my items make up $488 in USD..

I also made a display sign for things that I made in bulk (any item i had more than 3 or 4 of)

AND

Since I’m selling to middle schoolers, I can practically hear the “this stuff is so expensive..”'s

And I had a thought.

Why not include receipts to prove that “hey, you’re telling me my stuff isn’t cheap but yarn and the time I put into these projects isn’t cheap either.” Sooo I plan to put the receipts out somewhere along my sign where the kids can see them.

I thought (or rather @R1anasaur0us thought..) that if I posted about the receipt idea on community, other crocheters may take that as inspiration for their markets as well!

RESULTS!!!

had my sister take this one so it’s a bit blurry and also the only one she took…

Total earnings: $135 with 29 total sales (bulk purchases included)

Donated to the school’s ASB: $27

Left with: $108

Not a bad little market experience!! They had me right by the gym, so I got a lot of foot traffic (and a lot of returning customers..) and it paid off!

I sold:

1/5 Pickles

2 stegos

1/6 mushies

1/7 round frogs

5/10 mini ducks

1/4 regular octos

ALL OF MY 8 mini turtles!!!

6/8 mini loaf cats (gave the leftover two to my sisters)

And around 4-5/9 flower bookmarks (I stopped counting what I sold at some point )

yesssss, as crocheters we soooo often get the “why is it so expensive?” question so why not include receipts on a board or something during markets so customers can SEE how much we put into this hobby!!!

Everything is so cute, I hope you can sell all, also, that idea is really good I’m done having to lower the prices (even though I always have them low) just because people can’t understand how much I’m risking
